My aim for the research assignment was to find out which would be the fastest way to model up something which will be used for my final Town Hall Station installation so the two would end up having some sort of link together. That is, using Google SketchUp then importing into Sandbox2 Editor OR with Solidworks, bringing into 3DS Max and finally importing into the Editor.
Both ways proved to have their own pros and cons but Google SketchUp proved to be the fastest when modelling my installation for the station. In desperate situations when time is limited and something goes wrong in the last minute, the results for this experiment would help users decide which way is more preferable.
Methodology taken for this research:
1. Creating a 100cmx25cmx5cm rectangular prism and using it to model in both SketchUp and SolidWorks.
2. Recording the steps required to completely bring object into Sandbox2 Editor successfully.
3. Timing the whole process of both workflows and compare results.
